NCEL Division One - Club Thorne Colliery 1-1 Selby Town - 18.10.2025

NCEL Division One - Club Thorne Colliery 1-1 Selby Town - 18.10.2025

Five changes from the side that beat Glasshoughton during the week with Jake Robinson, Lewis Walker, Marc Newsham, Alex Peterson and the injured Reiss Harrison made way for Ben Stobart, Louis Seddons, Ethan Harrison, Dom Mellor and James Baxendale.

Selby have recently appointed Stephen Bodle as first team manager and Lee Needham as his assistant manager after a poor run of form which saw them drop down the table.

Five losses in their previous five for Selby, they came into the game looking to turn that form around. Colliery came into the game unbeaten in their last five, with two wins and three draws, looking to get their second home win of the season.

Colliery started the game really well with multiple chances came from Luke Williams down the right wing. The opener came just six minutes into the game as James Baxendale played a lovely floated ball to Luke Williams, Williams delivered a low cross into the area for Ethan Harrison to pounce on and give the home side the lead.

The away side struggled to find a chance to create in the first half with Thorne dominating possession and strong at the back.

More chances came for Thorne, Dom Mellor had a chance from distance but his shot was just over the bar and more chances came down the right with Williams, but Thorne couldn't double their lead before the half time interval.

Half-Time: Club Thorne Colliery 1–0 Selby Town

A good start to the second period for Thorne as they hit the away side on the counter attack with Luke Williams at the helm, he played Muenda on the right who cut inside and took his shot but it was caught by the keeper.

Thorne continued to cause trouble with Muenda showing his silky skills on the edge of the area which forced a foul in a good position. Minutes later he beat his man and delivered a good, low cross into the box but it was cleared away.

Muenda and Seddons made way for Jake Robinson and Alex Peterson and shortly after, Harry Brown was withdrawn from the game after going down holding his hamstring, Alex Kemp was his replacement.

Kemp went close with a header just after coming on, a corner ball was deep into the area and onto his head, the shot went just wide of the post.

Selby were able to level the game in the 84th minute, a corner was put in close to the keeper, defenders were unable to get the ball clear and the Selby defender, Charlie Petch, was able to put it into the back of the net.

There was little to no action after the equaliser went in, neither side able to find a winner.
