Liverpool vs RC Strasbourg

Today, the Reds will be back at Anfield for the first time since the final game of the 21/22 season against Wolves in there last Pre Season game before the start of the new 22/23 Premier League season. The match will be against French first division side, RC Strasbourg.

Todays game will most likely include 2nd team players and any player that didn’t get any minutes yesterday or played for a short amount of time. This would include Joe Gomez, Konate, Harvey Davies in goal and even Fabio Carvalho as he only played the last 8 minutes of the game yesterday.

This game will be a final workout for the player and a chance to show there worth before the start of the season and it will be a chance to show Klopp who is shining at the moment. There also may be a chance to see Calvin Ramsay for the first time as he makes his way back from a minor injury. However, he cannot be rushed so the decision will be made closer to the game.

A Strasbourg player to look out for who be Ghanaian international Alexander Djinku who plays centre back. He is a strong centre back who is very successful in 1v1 battles with attackers.

My prediction would be a comfortable win for Liverpool, 3-0 maybe more. It will be good to see more young players in the team to show what they are capable of.

Liverpool vs Manchester City

After a 90 minute battle, Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 to claim the Community Shield for the 16th time in Liverpool’s history.

From the first whistle, Liverpool looked like the stronger team. They looked as if they have been back for months. Whereas, City looked rusty and players needed more time to get back into the game from the Pre Season.

After the brilliant build play of an artistic Thiago switch and a classic Mo Salah touch and lay off in the 21st minute of the game, Trent Alexander Arnold fired the Reds ahead from outside of the box into the top corner then going on to shushing the Man City fans.

After another 24 minutes of back and forth play, the half time whistle was blown. A great first half that would entertain even a non-football fan.

The second half started and City looked more and more dangerous throughout the half. Finally, there luck came to them in the 70th minute through a debut goal by Argentine Julian Alvarez, who couldn’t miss the goal.

The game was getting tense for all fans and it looked as if the game would go to extra time. However, Darwin Nuñez had come into the pitch and made a huge difference in Liverpool’s attacking urgency, making chances all over, he changed the game.

In the 80th minute, Nuñez’ chance was blocked by the hand of Ruben Dias leading to a VAR check and finally a penalty given to the Reds. Mo Salah stepped up…and finished well to put Liverpool in front in the last stages of the game.

After a heart chattering miss from Haaland, hitting the crossbar from 4 yards out, coming into the last seconds of the game, Liverpool were on the counter attack. Salah, at the forefront, whips a brilliant ball to Robertson at the back post, who then heads it into the space of Nuñez, who finishes it well with his head the give Liverpool the Community Shield for the first time in 16 years.

It was a brilliant game from both teams and an entertaining one to watch. Going into the season, Liverpool are looking very good even with some players not fully ready. I’m excited for the season now.

Next fixture is today at Anfield: Liverpool vs RC Strasbourg.

The Community Shield 2022

Today, Liverpool and Manchester City will battle it for the first trophy of the season today at 5pm at Leicester City’s ground, The King Power Stadium.

Liverpool have had 4 Pre Season games, winning 2 and losing 2 which is not the best coming into the season with a big game like this. Whereas, City have played 2 games and won both by 1 goal.

The Reds looked good in the last 3 friendlies against Palace, Leipzig and Salzburg. There were some standout performances throughout such as Fabio Carvalho all the way through, Nuñez vs Leipzig, Firmino and Milner throughout and then a lot of other players who are looking sharp.

I think todays game will be a big test, I don’t think we’re fully ready to have a big game like this but then again I don’t think City will be either. It will be a tough game and that will mean it is going to be a good one.

It’s not the biggest or the best trophy, but it will be another trophy to add to the wall and for the season.

Liverpool vs RB Salzburg

Liverpool played in there final Friendly before their chance to win the first trophy of the season on Saturday. However, Salzburg went away to win 1-0 in Austria.

RB Salzburg started the game on the front foot, they capitalised on Liverpool’s defensive mistakes and had early chances. However, Liverpool had chances early as well, with Nuñez hitting the side netting from a very tight angle early in the first half.

However, it was Salzburg who took the lead through there Man of the Match, Benjamin Šeško. He is a 19 year old Slovenian international who stands at 6ft4in. Last season he scored 21 goals in 29 games jn the Austrian second division where he was on loan at FC Liefering. He looks to be a great talent and he showed a lot of potential against the Reds yesterday.

Liverpool had shots from everywhere in the pitch but non of them were going in. Shots were being saved, hitting the woodwork, going wide or over, it just wasn’t their day.

25 shots as a total and a whopping 75% possession for the Reds which really shows that the result does not represent the game. However, Salzburg defended well and showed that they are a good team.

Lots of positives for the game such as the youth players really showing their talents. Another being Adrian being brilliant throughout the game. It’s just unfortunate to have not found the back of the net.

Going into Saturday I think the lads will go into it with there heads high. The result yesterday did not reflect what the game was like and they should look at it positively.

Liverpool vs RB Salzburg

In just an hours time, Liverpool will kick off for there last Pre Season match before there Community shield game against Manchester City this Saturday.

The team news has been announced and it looks like a few first team players will be rested for the weekend but Nuñez and Carvalho start in attack which may mean they will not be starting on Saturday.

Youngsters Mabaya and Bajcetic are also included in the starting 11, they are given chances to see if they are ready for first team experiences at Liverpool. Mabaya impressed me against Manchester United a few weeks back so it’s be good to see him again tonight.

Gomez and Konate also start along side each other in defence. This is a very strong and pacey back two, I’m looking forward to seeing how they pair with each other today l.

I’m also looking forward to seeing Carvalho and Nuñez back out on the pitch. They both had amazing performances last week against Leipzig, Nuñez scoring 4 goals!

Even being what we may call our second team, it is still a very strong lineup and I am confident about the game and I am looking forward to seeing how the players play together.

Goalkeeping Options at LFC

So in my blogs I speak a lot about outfield players and I usually skip past one of the most important player on the team, the goalkeepers. So this blog will be about the goalkeeping options at Liverpool,

So the first choice goalkeeper is most definitely Alisson Becker. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment and he saves Liverpool in many many games. His 1v1 success rate is amazing and he saves a lot of shots that come against him. He is also a leader, a very vocal player that can help players in games.

Our second choice goalkeeper would be 23 year old Caoimhin Kelleher. As a young goalkeeper, he is very good for his age. Usually, as keepers get older they increase performance wise and in there younger years they do not perform as well. In Kellehers case, this is wrong. He is an acrobatic that can get the anywhere in the net, giving him the title of, the Octopus. He will most likely be first choice if Alisson ever leaves.

Adrian, who was our second choice keeper a few seasons back, made some great performances in UCL and EPL games plus making the winning save in the penalty shootout to win the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.

There are also options in the youth system that have made appearances in Pre Season this year. Harvey Davies, Fabian Mrozek and Marcelo Pitaluga are all options coming into the future. They will all most likely go on loan to gain experience at some point.

This week for Liverpool

After a calm day off yesterday for the reds which included fishing with Darwin, the boys are back to training today to prepare for there next Pre Season game against RB Salzburg in Austria.

On the back of a 5-0 win against RB Leipzig, the Reds will be going into this match with a positive outlook and a lot of confidence. The team will be weaker than the one against Leipzig as a few players will need a chance in the first team but all the first team players will be available throughout the game.

After this match, they will make there way back to Kirby where they will prepare for there Community Shield clash such Manchester City, where the first trophy of the season is up for grabs.

A day later, there is another friendly at Anfield against French club RC Strasbourg. This will be a game for the reserves to play in most likely as the first team will be recovering from the game, the day before.

Big week for the reds, but let’s see what happens. Hopefully an update on the Champions Wall next week.

Monday 25 July 2022

Sepp Van Den Berg

20 year old, Dutch centre back Sepp Van Den Berg is set to sign for newly promoted Premier League team Bournemouth on loan for the season.

This will give him more Premier League experience which will be good for the future of his career and in a team like Bournemouth it will be more challenging for him which is also good for development.

Last season, Van Den Berg was out in loan at Preston North End in the Championship. He played a total of 61 games for the club and he even got to score 1 goal from his position as centre back.

I think he has a future at Liverpool, but obviously he is very young and needs to gain experience so that he can play with the first team. Also with the options we have in that position, I can’t see him challenging any for the time being.

Salzburg, Austria: Training Camp

After the Reds’ 5-0 in Leipzig on Thursday, they have made there way into the Austrian mountains for there next part of training for the season ahead.

The Reds are currently in Salzburg, Austria for the next week where they will train in high altitude to improve fitness whilst working on skills. Then on Wednesday, they will face RB Salzburg for there final game before the Community Shield matchup against Man City.

Being in the mountains at a high altitude would mean there is less oxygen in the air due to decreased air pressure. This would mean the lungs would have to work harder and this would then improve fitness in the long run.

The high intensity training camp is a test for all the players and it will show them a bit of what they will experience in the season ahead.

Calvin Ramsay has joined the team in Austria and he may be able available to play the game against Salzburg next week.

Liverpool vs RB Leipzig

After finishing their Asia tour with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, Liverpool headed to Germany to face RB Leipzig. It is probably the toughest team they’ve faced so far.

As the game started, Liverpool looked like the better team throughout the first half. A lovely finish from Mohamed Salah gave the Reds a 1-0 lead going into half time.

At half time, Jurgen Klopp made a few changes. Darwin Nuñez found himself on the pitch again. He had something to prove.

In the 48th minute, Liverpool we’re awarded a penalty after Luis Diaz was brought down in the box. This was given to Nuñez, he stepped up and slotted it into the back of the net to get his first Liverpool goal and to show his haters that he is a good player.

2 minutes later, a Trent lay off found Nuñez again and he was in 1v1 with the keeper. A cool, calm and collected finish put Liverpool 3-0 up and found Nuñez with his second goal at Liverpool.

In the 68th minute, Harvey Elliott found Nuñez once again to make it a hat trick in 20 minutes and silencing all of his haters.

The fifth goal was absolutely brilliant. Everything about it was perfect. It starts with a great interception by Joe Gomez and a pass too Jones who then laid it straight back to Carvalho. Carvalho flicks the ball over his opponent and beats him for pace. He puts a through ball into Nuñez who slots it into the opposite corner, beating the keeper to find his 4th goal of the game.

It goes to show that you can’t judge a player from 1 or 2 games. Yes, it is still only Pre-Season but we were playing a full strength Champions League team.

Resiliencia 🤫

RB Leipzig vs Liverpool

Today is the third Pre-Season match for the Reds and they are in Germany to face RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena.

Today I think there will be two lineups again. I think one of the halves will be the full first time with maybe 1 or 2 youth players. Then the other half with be mainly players from the bench with a few youth players in it.

Leipzig have a similar style of play to Liverpool, they use a high line and they press throughout the game. They usually play with a 3-4-3 or a 5-2-3 formation and they usually dominate in the centre.

Nkunku is a player to look out for. He scores many of Leipzig’s goals and he can dribble very well.

I think it will be a very good game, it will be good to see the Reds face there first proper challenge. I think we will come out on top with a 2-1 win. I would love to see Nuñez score and have a brilliant game to silence all his haters.

Liverpool Pre-Season: Week 3

Into the third week of Pre-Season for Liverpool and they are back in Kirby at the AXA Training Centre to continue there training ahead of next season.

However, they will fly back out to Leipzig today ready for the game at the RB Arena Leipzig tomorrow which will be at 6:45pm.

A few players missed the first session back. Jota, who picked up a recurring injury in Asia is out at the minute so he will not be training for now. Alisson picked up an abdominal injury so he will be out for now and he may be back for the battle against Man City. Lastly, Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up an injury against Crystal Palace last week leading him to sitting out of training.

Virgil, Nuñez and Thiago were also not pictured at training. However, their absences were not due to injury but due to more days off because of their recent international duties.

Isaac Mabaya, Stefan Bajcetuc, Tyler Morton and Harvey Davies also continued training with the first-team to further impress Jurgen Klopp ahead of the new season.

Early Predictions for next season

With the season quickly approaching I wanted to share my predictions on what I think will happen next season and where the Reds will finish.

So for the first game, Liverpool will face the winner of the Championship, Fulham who have been strengthening throughout the transfer window. The game will also be at Craven Cottage giving Fulham the advantage. I believe Liverpool will breeze past them and win 2 or 3 nil.

For the rest of the season, I think it will be more competitive than from the last few seasons because of Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and even United strengthening so much this summer.

I think all these teams will compete well, it will give City a scare which I think will benefit us a lot because they will lose more games. I think our struggle will be less impacted than City’s.

Let’s see what the season brings. It will be a good one!

Monday 18 July 2022

Ben Davies

Ben Davies has gained interest from Scottish giants, Rangers recently. They have offered £4m for the English centre back.

Davies has not played a single competitive game for the Reds despite joining them in February 2021 when Liverpool’s struggle for a centre back due to injury was at its highest.

Davies joined the club aged 24 on a fee of £500,000 with £1.1m add ons and Sepp Van Den Berg moving the other way to Preston North End.

After his first season as a Red playing 0 games, Davies went out on loan to Sheffield United where he played a total of 23 games and scored 1 goal.

Selling him for £4m means it would be quite good business due to the profits but he was quite a pointless signing due to playing 0 games for the club.

Good luck to Ben in his future. All the Liverpool fans are behind him!

Saturday 16 July 2022

Darwin Nuñez Start

Darwin Nuñez came off the bench against Manchester United in Tuesday for the last 30 minutes of there Pre Season friendly in Bangkok. In this, he missed a perfect chance to give Liverpool a goal back and since then, all he has had is slander.

Yesterday, he played 45 minutes against Crystal Palace in Singapore in another friendly. He was making mistakes throughout the half, missing the ball and fouling defenders endlessly.

Yes, Nuñez may have had a bad start and yes he may look like a ‘flop’ but people have to realise that these are Pre Season games and Nuñez is young and he is in a team that he doesn’t really know.

He needs time to show his abilities and develop more skills. Under a coach like Klopp a player can change very quickly. Once the season starts, Nuñez may even be ready to chow his skills, he’s been back in training for less than a week it’s bound to happen.

Time will only tell for the lad and people need to step back about the situation. His potential will show in the future.

Friday 15 July 2022

Match day; LFC vs CPFC

So today is match day in Singapore. Our second friendly of Pre-Season will occur today at 1:35pm against Crystal Palace.

I would expect to see more first team players starting todays game but with a mix of youth players playing along side them. This would be to gain vital experience for the future.

I would like to see Darwin Nunez start today, I feel like he didn’t have the perfect start and I just want him to prove people wrong and to show he is s good player.

Another player that would be good to see playing would be the young right back Mabaya. He had a decent performance against United and I believe he will be a key player in the future.

Score predictions for me would be 3-1 Liverpool.

Thursday 14 July 2022

Roberto Firmino

Recently there has been speculation that Roberto Firmino would leave the club and not sign a new contract. However, it doesn’t really look like he will be leaving anytime soon.

Jürgen Klopp said that ‘Bobby is back 100%. World class player. We don’t have to be worried.’ Suggesting that he will stay here with the club and he will not be joking any other teams, luckily.

Bobby has been a very important player for the team. His contributions in games are never ending. He will not stop from the first minute all the way to the last. People seem to doubt him a lot, but they don’t understand how important Bobby is to the team.

I hope he signs the new contract and it’s good to hear that he is back to his best. Onto next season.

Next Up for Liverpool

So after the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United on Tuesday in Thailand, what is next for Liverpool?

Today, Liverpool travelled from Thailand to Singapore where they will face Crystal Palace on Friday 15th July  in another Friendly in there Asia tour.

Klopp has said that the amount of changes in the game against Man Utd will not continue as he was trying to figure out who will get a first team place in the later PreSeason games.

Who impressed me the most? I would have to say the right back Mabaya impressed me the most. He’s only 17 and he was playing like an experienced right back. One to look out dm for in the future.

So, the team again Palace will most likely be younger player mixed with first team players to build fitness and experience.

Liverpool vs Man Utd: The result

So, today Liverpool played there first preseason game in Thailand against Manchester United. The game ended 4-0 to Manchester United due to a couple defensive mistakes and one class goal from Fred to be fair to him.

The game included 32 changed throughout for Liverpool as they changed the team every 30 mins to make sure that every player would get time to prove their worth.

I would say the stand out performances would be from the right back Mabaya, who is 17 years old. Despite making a mistake leading to a United goal, he looked strong, fast and a good fit for Liverpool.

Another would be Carvalho, he hit the post and played a very good game in the midfield where he looks dominant. He skilled past a few players and showing his worth.

Other stand out players would be Elliot, Chambers, Diaz and Milner.

Going forward the team looked strong but some brilliant saves from De Gea meant that they kept a clean sheet.

I’m looking forward to the next few games where we can see players such as Nunez properly play for the team.

Liverpool vs Manchester United

Today we will see Liverpool return to the pitch in there Pre-Season clash against Manchester United.

We will most likely see a young team out and players who don’t usually get the chance to play first team football. This would probably include Adrian, Gomez and Nat Phillips.

The younger players would have a chance to show they are ready for first team football and to showcase their skills in front of the first team and the coaching staff.

Moreover, we will see new signings, Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez for the first time, so keep and eye out for them to show up.

I am looking forward to the game because I want to see the younger players play and I am very excited to see the new signings play.

Neco Williams’ Departure

Neco Williams has announced that he is leaving the club after 15 year to look for a “new challenge”.

He announced on Twitter that’s it has been an “honour” to play for the club and that he “will always continue to support the club“.

This is after he is expected to complete his medical for Nottingham Forrest ahead of his £17 million move to the newly promoted side.

Neco will be missed, he has provided good moments for the club such as the assist for the Origi’s last minute goal in the 5-5 League Cup win for Liverpool where they won on penalties in the end.

He has been with the club for 15 years and will now move on to build his career, all the best Neco!

PreSeason Squad

The travelling squad: Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Bajcetic, Carvalho, Chambers, Clark, Clarkson, H. Davies, Diaz, Elliott, Fabinho, Firmino, Frauendorf, Gomez, Henderson, Hill, Jones, Jota, Keita, Konate, Mabaya, Matip, Milner, Morton, Mrozek, Norris, Nunez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Phillips, Robertson, Salah, Thiago, Tsimikas, Van den Berg, Van Dijk, R. Williams.

In the squad there is a range of different ages, young and old. The younger players will gain good, well needed experience from the trip and they will get game time throughout.

It will be good to see some of the younger players and see what they have to offer, I am personally excited to see Frauendorf after has had 2 brilliant seasons with the youth teams.

Salah, Van Dijk, Jota, Alexander-Arnold and a few more players are ones who will train for the first time with the team since the season ended, they have travelled from there holidays straight to Bangkok to join the team.

I am also excited to see the new signings. I think everyone is waiting to see Nunez train and play because he is an expensive signing and he is only just back in training.

It’s an exciting PreSeason this year because of all the youth. Let’s wait and see what happens and let’s hope some of the younger players can show they are ready for the step up in the near future.

Friday 8 July 2022

Virgil Van Dijk

Today is Virgil Van Dijk’s 31st birthday and for it I wanted to bring back some of his best moments.

From his debut against Everton back in January 2018 where he played a dominant game and where he scored his first goal in his first game to give Liverpool the sun in the FA Cup Merseyside Derby. The score was 2-1 and what a mark he left for his future, from then we all knew.

Then he went into having a brilliant debut season at Liverpool, proving to the world why the Reds pud so much money for him. In his first season, he playing in his first ever Ucl Final. He played well, fighting off Ronaldo but unfortunately losing the game due to some goalkeeping mistakes.

After this, he began to really show that he is the best defender in the world. 2 dominant seasons in the centre half role led to everyone looking at him as a beast. Playing in his second Ucl Final in 2 years he played an amazing game, making goal stopping tackles to keep a clean sheet.

The next season, winning the league with the Reds and once again keeping up with his world-class status. However, an ACL injury came across him in October 2020 leading to him missing the rest of the poor 20/21 season where Liverpool finished 3rd.

Coming back into the 21/22 season, it looked like he had never left. He came back into brilliant performances against top sides. He won 2 trophies last season and finished 2nd with Liverpool in both the Ucl and the Pl.

What a player! Many more years left for Big Virg at Liverpool.

Contract Renewal News

There are a few contracts that are going to be signed in the next few weeks, including the likes of Jota, Keira and Joe Gomez.

To start, we have Joe Gomez. In the past few days his agent and the club have been coming to an agreement on a new contract. It looks like that, just today, an agreement has been reached and Gomez will sign a new long term deal with the club.

Next we have Jota. Since arriving from Wolves in 2020, he has been a very significant play to the club and that has led to Liverpool putting him in for a large pay rise.

Lastly, Naby Keita will be going into talks with the club to renew his contract. He is on his last year this season of his current contract, so the club will try to reach an agreement with him to keep him longer.

Since finding form after his long run of injuries, the Guinean midfielder has impressed the fans and Liverpool, making it important to keep him.

The lactate test at Liverpool

So I’m the pre-season at Liverpool players take part in a test called the lactate test.

The test involves running full out, getting from one set up pole to the next before the whistle blows. However, the length of time between whistles shortens with each interval, so the players need to run faster each time. Then, since that wasn’t enough fun, between intervals, the players have blood drawn from their ear to get their lactate levels tested.

Taking the lactate levels would show the amount of lactic acid that the players have in their muscles after using them for certain amounts of times.

This year, it was also linked to asthma technology with the introduction of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) testing using analysis technology. FeNO testing is typically used in diagnosing asthma. So this would be used to check if the players have any other issues the club need to worry about.

So this year there was a surprise winner in the lactate running test…. Not.

The winner for the 7th time in a row was 36 year old James Milner. He has won every single year since he joined the club in 2015. He is truly a machine.

The Preseason Schedule

So this week, preseason begun back at the AXA Training Centre in Kirby. There are a few weeks left until the Community Shield game against Man City in Leicester. So here is what will be happening.

Yesterday, most of the first team arrived back including 2 of the new summer signings, Ramsay and Carvalho. But we are still yet to see some of the players such as Vigil, Mo, Nunez and more. It is expected that all of the players will return by the end of the week.

On July 10th, the team will fly out to Thailand for the friendly against Manchester United which is on July 12th, then out to Singapore for there game against Crystal Palace on July 15th. Then they will go back into Europe for there fans against RB Leipzig in Germany on July 21st, then to Austria and then back to England for the Community Shield.

It’s a busy schedule for Liverpool, but most of the games will include youth players and second team players. They will have a chance for game time and to show that they are more important to the team.

I’m looking forward to see the team fully back and let’s hope they can win the Community Shield, it’s another possible trophy for the cabinet and another trophy to take away from City.

Monday 4 July 2022

Preseason: Day 1

It was the first day of preseason today and lots of faces arrived back at the AXA Training Centre with a few more to come back later this week.

3 new faces arrived today.

Calvin Ramsay being one, the 18 year old joining the club a few weeks ago will have a big preseason ahead of him to prove he is a worthy back up for Trent at right back.

Another new face is Fabio Carvalho. He officially signed for the club on Friday and was announced as a signing only yesterday. He is also 18 years old and he will be an exciting player to see this preseason.

Another new face however was not a new signing, it is 18 year old left back Luke Chambers who recently won the U19’s Euros with England. He comes in as he has been seen as a brilliant talent. He will play in games this preseason and show that he is also worthy of being an option for the first team.

I am looking forward to seeing preseason games because of the new talents that are involved so far. I am excited to see any youth players coming up and having there chance in the first team. I am also excited for the new signings to play too.

Best games I went to Last Season: No1

April 16th 2022. Our second trip to London for football in the season had arrived. The sense of summer had hit and the day was lovely.

1pm. We had arrived at the stadium on a full train, no City fans in sight. The atmosphere even outside of the stadium was calm and enjoyable. The Liverpool fan park was full to the brim (I was I could say the same about City’s) and Reds were singing for hours to come.

Walking into the stadium, an echo of voices hit me from the stairs up to the concourse. All the way up, the singing continued, my voice was nearly gone before we had even got to our seats.

Arriving to my seat, I could already see so many more Liverpool fans than City fans and a huge flag covering around 1000 seats was placed on the Man City side behind the cameras to show that they had not sold enough tickets.

The game kicked off after a raging You’ll Never Walk Alone filled London. 9 minutes in Ibou scored his second goal that week to open the scoring. This is only the start. 8 minutes later, Mane had capitalised onto Stefan’s mistake and scored the second, then just before half time Mane finished off an amazing build up and a spectacular volley to score his brace and put Liverpool 3-0 up at half time.

The atmosphere throughout the first half was amazing, nonstop singing led the boys to score 3 goals. Then, this atmosphere continued in the concourse at half time. 15 minutes of singing and all I need to say is, I’m So Glad That Jürgen Is A Red!

2 late goals from City in the second half gave the Reds a shock but luckily they could not find an equaliser. They were down and out! Liverpool we’re through to the FA Cup final and everyone knew they would win it after that performance!

What a day and what a game!

Saturday 2 July 2022

Curtis Jones

I wanted to take a look into one of our scousers, Curtis Jones.

Jones joined Liverpool at the age of 9. Going up through the academy, he made his U23’s debut age 17 and then signed his professional contract for Liverpool. He made his senior debut in an FA Cup game against Wolves in 2019, aged 18.

On January 5th 2020, Jones became the youngest player to score in a Merseyside Derby since Fowler in 1994 after scoring a screamer against Everton. 3 weeks later he scored the opener in a 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury and in the replay he became the youngest ever captain for Liverpool in a 1-0 win.

His first league goal was scored in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa. December 1st 2020, he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal in a 1–0 victory over Ajax, sealing Liverpool's progression into the knockout stages.

Midway through last season, Jones showed that he was a class player, he assisted 4 goals in a UCL game against Porto and he scored a brace at Brentford in a 3-3 draw. However, injury ruled him out meaning his chances were not consistent enough.

I believe that next year he will be an important player. I think he is a very similar player to Thiago, so he could play along side him or he could be a good cover for him when Thiago is injured.

I would hate to see him leave because he has bags of potential and room for a legacy at the club. Let’s hope he can have a good chance this season.

Salah Contract Renewal

Yesterday, Mohamed Salah renewed his contract with Liverpool.

The Egyptian King signed a 5 year contract renewal with the club yesterday whilst on his holiday in his native Egypt.

This came after there were rumours that he would not sign the contract and that he was going to find another team this summer. Thankfully for Reds fans, Liverpool found the right offer for Mo and he’s signed.

The contract is worth around £350,000 a week which is around £130,000 more than Virgil Van Dijk’s wage which is now the second highest wage at £220,000.

Klopp is ‘confident’ that the difference in wages will not cause any problems in the dressing room.

Salah was the top player for Liverpool for most of last season, I believe the wage is fair but I do believe other teammates will not be happy. Liverpool’s wage structure usually doesn’t go like this, but with a player as important as Mo I think they would put it to one side.
