Best Games I've Been To: Liverpool vs Barcelona 2019

I will be releasing my match reports on the best games I have been to and to start it off we have Liverpool vs Barcelona in May 2019.

Liverpool went through to a second consecutive UEFA Champions League Final, after one of the greatest comebacks in football history, to beat Barcelona 4-0 and 4-3 on aggregate. Many sports fans doubted that Liverpool were going to find a way to comeback. But a confident Jurgen Klopp found a way to shock everybody. The atmosphere inside and outside the stadium before the match would give you goose bumps; Liverpool fans were ready to watch a great game of football which would turn out to be a historic European night.

If Liverpool were to comeback, they would be only the third team in Champions League history to do it from 3 goals down, it was looking very promising as a long ball from Matip went to Henderson who’s shot was brilliantly saved by Ter Stegen and put into the path of Divok Origi early on.

After the break, half time substitute Georginio Wijnaldum put a low driven shot past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and then, after a precise cross from Xherdan Shaqiri, Wijnaldum placed a beautiful header into the top corner, 122 seconds after his first, which made Anfield erupt.

The brilliance, though, did not stop there, the comeback was complete after a magnificent, quickly taken corner from young Alexander-Arnold caught Barcelona off guard, which made the Liverpool fans explode with joy, after allowing a well-placed Divok Origi to complete Mission Impossible, delirium inside Anfield

Everything about the night was fantastic. The tens of thousands greeting the Liverpool coach a full two hours before the start, the pyrotechnics, the way the Liverpool fans jeered Luiz Suarez and Coutinho, the comeback and all the Liverpool players lined up and singing You’ll Never Walk Alone in front of the Kop afterwards, which made hairs stick up on the back of everyone’s neck. What a night for Liverpool!

Player Bio: Trent Alexander Arnold

European champion, Club World Cup champion and Premier League champion, this blog is going to be about Trent Alexander Arnold, with my views on his importance at Liverpool Football Club and his career so far.

He was born on the 7th of October 1998 in West Derby, Liverpool. At just the age of 6, he was given the opportunity in the Liverpool academy. At the age of 16, he captained the youth team and played in a variety of positions, before finding that right back was his perfect position for him.

He made his professional debut for Liverpool on the 25th of October 2016 in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Moreover, Trent earned a spot in the EFL Team of the round. He started in the next round of the League cup in a 2-0 win over Leeds United, where he was awarded Man of the Match.

He was called up to the first team as Nathaniel Clyne was out injured. On the 15th of August 2017 he scored his first professional goal for Liverpool in a 2-1 win over German side Hoffenheim making him the third youngest player to score on their European debut for Liverpool. Later on in the Champions League group stages he managed to score in a 7-0 win over Maribor. In the same season, he became the youngest Liverpool player to start in a Champions League Final.

In the 2018-19 season Liverpool had a good season finishing second in the Premier League and winning the Champions League, after a 2-0 win over Tottenham. After this he broke records for becoming the youngest player to play in 2 consecutive Champions League Finals and the most assists for a defender in the Premier League with 12. His success didn't stop there because he was nominated for a Ballon D'or and he won the Club World cup, the Super Cup and now the Premier League.

I believe that Trent Alexander Arnold is a very important part to the Liverpool squad because of the amount of chances he creates, his pace and his ability to drive the team up the pitch. I have seen him play multiple times, including his Man of the Match performance against Barcelona last year, and he never fails to impress me and many other Liverpool fans. His future is very bright and I believe that someday he will be a Ballon D'or winner.

Man City vs Liverpool

Newly crowned premier League Champions, Liverpool, suffer 4-0 defeat to second place, Manchester City.

Before the game the Manchester City players and staff respectfully gave the newly crowned Premier League Champs a Guard of Honour to congratulate The Reds on their first ever premier League title win.

Liverpool started the game with a nice break through the Manchester City defence, but only ended with Mohamed Salah hitting the post after he was past all the defenders.

Cities first came from a penalty as Joe Gomez was holding Raheem Sterling in the box, De Bruyne slots it home sending Alison the wrong way.

The second came from ex-Red Raheem Sterling, City used their brilliant passing tactics to break through Liverpool's strong defence and were able to get the ball to an unmarked Sterling where he could put the ball past an arriving Alison.

More one touch passing led to the third goal. David Silva and Phil Foden used these tactics to their own good and the skilful passing led to Foden's 4th of the season and now the Champions were 3-0 down.

A good ball from Kevin De Bruyne to Raheem Sterling led to the fourth and final goal for City, Sterling takes the ball around Joe Gomez and goes to put the ball into the bottom left of the goal where it deflects off a defending Oxlade-Chamberlin to go in for an own goal.

In the 95th minute, Riyad Mahrez thought he had clinched the 5th but fortunately for Liverpool it was ruled out after Phil Foden handballed it in the build up.

The Reds may have won the league but they did not show it against City at all.

Half-time deficit overturned by brilliant second half

A brilliant second half performance gives Club Thorne another win and increases their chances of promotion after beating East Riding Rangers...
