Best Games I've Been To: Liverpool vs Barcelona 2019

I will be releasing my match reports on the best games I have been to and to start it off we have Liverpool vs Barcelona in May 2019.

Liverpool went through to a second consecutive UEFA Champions League Final, after one of the greatest comebacks in football history, to beat Barcelona 4-0 and 4-3 on aggregate. Many sports fans doubted that Liverpool were going to find a way to comeback. But a confident Jurgen Klopp found a way to shock everybody. The atmosphere inside and outside the stadium before the match would give you goose bumps; Liverpool fans were ready to watch a great game of football which would turn out to be a historic European night.

If Liverpool were to comeback, they would be only the third team in Champions League history to do it from 3 goals down, it was looking very promising as a long ball from Matip went to Henderson who’s shot was brilliantly saved by Ter Stegen and put into the path of Divok Origi early on.

After the break, half time substitute Georginio Wijnaldum put a low driven shot past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and then, after a precise cross from Xherdan Shaqiri, Wijnaldum placed a beautiful header into the top corner, 122 seconds after his first, which made Anfield erupt.

The brilliance, though, did not stop there, the comeback was complete after a magnificent, quickly taken corner from young Alexander-Arnold caught Barcelona off guard, which made the Liverpool fans explode with joy, after allowing a well-placed Divok Origi to complete Mission Impossible, delirium inside Anfield

Everything about the night was fantastic. The tens of thousands greeting the Liverpool coach a full two hours before the start, the pyrotechnics, the way the Liverpool fans jeered Luiz Suarez and Coutinho, the comeback and all the Liverpool players lined up and singing You’ll Never Walk Alone in front of the Kop afterwards, which made hairs stick up on the back of everyone’s neck. What a night for Liverpool!
